Acrylic is a generic term to describe plastics. Acrylics were first made commercially available in the 1950s. This paint is made from synthetic materials that are water soluble while wet but once dry they become tough and flexible. This is a popular alternative to oil paint because it can also duplicate many of watercolor's unique characteristics when diluted with water and used as washes. |
